POPE FRANCIS R.I.P.

We pray for the repose of the soul of Pope Francis and give thanks for his dedicated life of service to the Church.

Archbishop Bernard Longley said:

“As the remarkable pontificate of Pope Francis comes to a close all the faithful, Religious and clergy of our Archdiocese join in praying for the repose of his soul.

“We recall with gratitude the Canonisation of St John Henry Newman, Birmingham’s saint, in 2019 by Pope Francis and the late Holy Father’s appreciation for Cardinal Newman’s teachings on the development of doctrine. The Holy Spirit inspired Pope Francis to lead the Church along the Synodal Pathway in fidelity to the teachings of the Second Vatican Council and this will undoubtedly remain an important part of his abiding legacy.

“We also remember Pope Francis’s many ecumenical and inter-religious initiatives as he prayed and worked for the unity of the Church and of mankind and for the respect due to God’s creation.

“We pray that the Good Shepherd will now welcome the Successor of Peter into the company of saints. May he rest in peace.”

The Archbishop offered the Easter Monday Mass to the repose of the Holy Father's soul. Prayer cards will be available in parishes in the next few days

EXPOSITION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT

SUNDAY 27.4.25: 6-7PM IN ST ANNE’S CHURCH

Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament will take place this Sunday for the repose of the soul of Pope Francis R.I.P. All are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Baptismal Talks:

Baptismal Talks: Baptismal talks for any parents who would like their children baptised will take place from 10.30- 11.30am on Saturday mornings, 3rd and 10th May (both must be attended), in St Anne’s church.

Please contact church during the week leading up to the first meeting to let Father Christopher know if you are attending. Thank you.

SUNDAY MORNING REFRESHMENTS

Parishioners, families and friends are warmly invited to join together in the lounge bar every Sunday morning after 11.00am Mass, where tea, coffee and biscuits are served. This is a lovely opportunity to come together, socialise and get to know other members of the parish.

Tea Dance

Tea Dance Please come and join us on Wednesday 30th April 2025, 1.00 - 3.00pm in the Parish Centre. The entrance fee is £2, to help those in need in our community, and there will be the usual bingo and raffle.

Future tea dances will be on 28th May and 25th June.

GIFT AID St ANNES 2025/2026

The Gift Aid Envelopes for the next financial year are now available at the back of the Church.

It is important that the new envelopes are not used before the 6th of April 2025.

Please be aware that your envelope number may have changed due the fact that this year we have again reduced the number of envelopes purchased, due to lack of take up.

GIFT AID ENVELOPES

These are clearly numbered 1 to 40 they are labelled with the donors name and postcode.

There is a labelled set of envelopes for each donor including for those donors who pay by Standing Order. They will need the envelopes for the approved second collections only.

Due to changes by the Diocese we can now only claim GAD on 3 specific 2nd collections each year. The pack includes 3 white envelopes for these collections. All other second collections are to be treated as Non Gad therefore any donations for these must be put into the collection bag loose.

PLANNED GIVING ENVELOPES

There are also sets of envelopes numbered 41 to 60 these are not labelled and can be taken by those parishioners who prefer to make their weekly oﬀering in an envelope but are not part of the gift aid scheme.

Any set of envelopes numbered 41 to 60 can be taken these are not Parishioner specific. As stated previously we have less envelopes this year so please only take a set if you intend to use them on a weekly basis.

If you are are making regular oﬀerings to the church and are a current tax payer you are eligible toto join the Gift Aid Scheme. It is simple to join and is not intrusive. The benefit is that for every £1 you donate, the church receives a further £0.25 from the government. This is money for nothing and is a major source of revenue for the Parish.

STANDING ORDERS

A considerable number of Parishioners now make donations by Standing Order, in most cases monthly. These can be for either GAD or Non Gad.

The Birmingham Pilgrimage to the Basilica and National Shrine of our Lady of Walsingham will take place from Saturday 27th to Monday 29th September 2025- details as below

All tariffs include 2 nights half board accommodation, which is bed, breakfast and dinner, plus lunch on Monday 29th September. Also coach travel, contribution towards PCV driver, pilgrimage Chaplain accommodation costs and coach parking costs.

Single Standard Room- £241.00 per pilgrim

Single en-suite room- £279.00 per pilgrim

Twin en-suite room- £542.00 per two pilgrims sharing

A £50.00 non-refundable deposit is required at the time of booking. Latest booking date is Friday 2nd May 2025 and the full balance is due by 31st July 2025.
